Dyrham
Park - Crowned with a balustrade and with fine views over it ancient deer
park, Dyrham was built between 1691 and 1702 for William Blathwayt, William the
111's Secretary at War and Secretary of State. The
rooms have changed little since they were furnished by Blathwayt. There are many
fine textiles and paintings, as well as blue and white delftware.
The Orangery is
delightful and there are fine views over the ancient deer park. Part of the old
stables area has been converted into a restaurant that serve snacks and teas.

How to get there: turn left at the bottom of Box Hedge Lane, keep going
on the B4465 until you reach the A46. Go south for Bath on the A46, the entrance
for Dyrham is on the right about 3 miles on.
