Lacock Village
dates from the 13th Century and has been used for King John's Hunting Lodge.jpg (73111 bytes) the filming of Pride & Prejudice, Moll Flanders & Emma. The village has its own bakery, three pubs, pottery and workshops specialising in antiques restoration. Tea Rooms Garden.jpg (72637 bytes)
King John's Hunting Lodge, reputedly the oldest house in the village, is worth a visit - you can enjoy drinks and snacks in pleasant surroundings in the gardens or the old tea rooms.

Lacock Abbey
was founded in 1232 and converted into a country house c.1540, the medieval cloisters, sacristy, chapter house and monastic roomsThe Cloisters.jpg (48672 bytes) have survived largely intact. In the Abbey Grounds.jpg (67504 bytes)The 16th century stable courtyard has half-timbered gables, a clock house brewery and bake house. The Victorian woodland garden has a fine display of flowers, magnificent trees and an 18th century summer-house.

The Museum of Photography (at the entrance to the Abbey grounds) commemorates the achievements of a former resident of the Abbey, William Fox Talbot.

From Box Hedge Farm go left onto B4465 for 5 miles, go right onto the A46 and join the M4 at Junction 18. Go East for London coming off at the next Junction (17). Follow signs for A4 then A350. Lacock is well signposted.
