Lacock
Village dates from the 13th Century and has been used for the filming of Pride
& Prejudice, Moll Flanders & Emma. The village has its own
bakery, three pubs, pottery and workshops specialising in antiques restoration.
King John's Hunting Lodge, reputedly the oldest house in the village, is worth a
visit - you can enjoy drinks and snacks in pleasant surroundings in the gardens
or the old tea rooms.

Lacock Abbey
was founded in 1232 and converted into a country house c.1540, the medieval
cloisters, sacristy, chapter house and monastic rooms
have survived largely intact. The
16th century stable courtyard has half-timbered gables, a clock house brewery
and bake house. The Victorian woodland garden has a fine display of flowers,
magnificent trees and an 18th century summer-house.
The Museum of Photography (at the entrance to the Abbey grounds)
commemorates the achievements of a former resident of the Abbey, William Fox
Talbot.
